The Townsville Fire has announced today The Ville Resort-Casino will extend its hero sponsorship partnership with the WNBL club for a further two years contributing another $1 million in support.
The renewed agreement continues the long-stand relationship between the women’s basketball team and The Ville until the end of the 2027/28 WNBL season.
— one that has been instrumental in securing the club’s financial stability, community reach, and elite performance over the past several years.
It follows the Morris Group’s, which is The Ville’s parent company, historic contribution made in 2023, which was described at the time as the largest private-sector investment in the club’s history and a defining moment in securing the Fire’s future.
This new extension continues that legacy, with the$1million committed by The Ville over the next two seasons — reaffirming their status as the Fire’s most significant commercial partner and one of the strongest supporters of women’s sport in North Queensland.

Townsville Fire CEO Sam Pascoe said the extended partnership is another show of confidence in the Fire’s direction and ongoing impact across North Queensland.
“The support of The Ville has been absolutely game-changing for our club,” Ms Pascoe said.
“They have believed in our purpose — not just asa team chasing championships, but as a community-owned club driving opportunities for women and girls across the region.
“This extension allows us to plan long-term, strengthen our programs, and continue to deliver incredible experiences for our members, partners, and fans.”
Executive Chairman of the Morris Group Chris Morris said the decision to extend the partnership was an easy one.
“As an organisation, the Fire aligns with our values and the extension of the hero partnership was a show of support for their on and off court success. We are really excited by their direction as a playing group and leadership”.
The Ville’s GM of Marketing & Community Kimberley Wilkinson echoed MrMorris' sentiments saying, “We’re proud to continue backing the Fire as they inspire and lead the next generation of athletes and represent our Townsville community with passion and pride.”
As the Fire celebrate the 25-year anniversary season in 2025/26, the renewed backing from TheVille cements a partnership that has become synonymous with the club’s rise as one of Australia’s most successful professional women’s sporting teams.
