Road to the Championship Defence Revealed as Townsville Fire 2026/27 Schedule Released.
The Townsville Fire's quest to defend its fifth WNBL Championship officially begins today, with the release of the 2026/27 WNBL fixture.
Following one of the most successful seasons in club history, the Fire will return to the Fire Pit for ten home games as they embark on another demanding campaign against the nation's best. The schedule sees the reigning champions once again face one of the league's toughest travel itineraries, with the Fire set to cover thousands of kilometres throughout the season.
However, CEO Sam Pascoe says that challenge is something the club has come to embrace. "My first thought when I saw the fixture – it's fair to say our Velocity Frequent Flyer points will be in their growth era this season," Pascoe said.
"Every season we ask our fans to come on the journey with us, and after the incredible support we received throughout our championship campaign, we can't wait to see the Fire Pit packed once again. "The 2026/27 fixture features ten exciting home games, including the highly anticipated Opening Night and Championship Banner Raise, marquee rivalry clashes and a number of themed game days that will once again showcase why attending a Townsville Fire game has become one of North Queensland's premier sporting and entertainment experiences.
Head Coach Shannon Seebohm said the release of the fixture makes the season feel real for the playing group.
"This is the point where everything starts to come together," Seebohm said."We're finalising a group we're incredibly excited about, and now we know exactly what the road ahead looks like.
There are going to be plenty of challenges throughout the season, but we're looking forward togetting back in front of our home crowd and defending our championship."

We're excited to welcome everyone back as we begin our title defence, and we're encouraging supporters to secure their seats early."
